Court fees consultation 27/02/2015 The Scottish Government has launched a consultation on the level of fees charged by Scottish Courts.

Court fees consultation

The Scottish Government has launched a “Consultation on Proposals for Fees Charged by the Court of Session, Accountant of Court, Sheriff & Justice of the Peace Courts, High Court, Office of the Public Guardian, Personal Injury Court and the Sheriff Appeal Court”.

Views are requested by 15th May 2015.

Court fees are reviewed on a regular basis to make sure that they still meet the Scottish Government’s policy objective of recovering the cost to the public purse where those using the courts are in position to meet or contribute to those costs.

It is therefore consulting on the proposed new levels and will finalise the new fee orders on the basis of the responses it receives. The new fee orders will be laid before Parliament later in the year and, if approved, will come into force in September.

Details of the proposals can be found here.
