Response to the Taylor Review

The Society of Solicitor Advocates has responded to the Taylor Review consultation and has come out strongly in favour of the existing systems for recovery of legal fees and expenses in civil cases.

The SSA believes it is important parties should be able to obtain proper professional legal advice and representation in cases before the courts and that the administration of justice is best served by the existence of a high quality legal profession and judiciary.

It supports changes which will improve the level of recovery by a successful litigant. It opposes any changes which would encourage greater dispute about expense related issues or which would make the value of the dispute the sole or predominant factor in determining the amount of expenses recovered.
