New statistics from SCRA

Recently published statistics from the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration reveal a drop in the number of children and young people with Child Protection Orders received in 2015/16. This fell from 754 in 2014/15 to 595 this year.

Of the 595, says SCRA, 24.9% were for children aged under 20 days.

The statistics also reveal that in 2015/16:

  • 15,329 children and young people in Scotland were referred to the Children’s Reporter;
  • 13,688 of these were on non-offence (care and protection) grounds;
  • 2,761 of these were on offence grounds;
  • 3,185 children and young people had a new Compulsory Supervision Order (CSO) made on grounds referred; and
  • In total, 10,379 children and young people were subject to CSOs at 31st March 2016.
