The Scottish Land Court

The Scottish Land Court is, as of 1st April, now one of ”the Scottish courts” as defined by the Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Act 2008 and within the responsibility of the Lord President.

It is a change brought about by the Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Act 2008 (Scottish Land Court) Order 2017, which also specifies that the members and Deputy Chairman of the Scottish Land Court will become judicial office holders as defined by the 2008 Act. Staff will transfer from Scottish Government into the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.

The Scottish Land Court will retain its identity as a separate court but its administration will be under the auspices of the Supreme Courts. The current Chairman is Lord Minginish.
