Court of Session sittings

The Scottish Civil Justice Council has confirmed that new Rules setting out when the Court of Session sits will come into force on 1st January 2018.

The new dates are set out in the Act of Sederunt (Rules of the Court of Session 1994 Amendment) (Sittings of the Court) 2017, passed by the Scottish Parliament last week, and are now included in the body of the Rules themselves.

The aim is to modernise the sittings of the Court by abolishing the summer vacation and term dates.

The Act of Sedurunt is here and the Lord President’s Direction No 1 of 2016, which provided for the change, is here.
