John Scott QC is a partner in Capital Defence Lawyers, Leith, and specialises in criminal defence work, with a particular interest in human rights.
He qualified as a solicitor in 1987, and was admitted as a solicitor advocate in 2001, becoming accredited as a senior solicitor advocate for legal aid purposes in 2009. In 2011, John was appointed as a Queen's Counsel.
John has been Chair of Howard League for Penal Reform in Scotland since 2006, and was Chair of the Scottish Human Rights Centre (formerly the Scottish Council for Civil Liberties) from 1997 until it closed in 2005.

Rory McPherson is a partner in Thompsons Solicitors, specialising in employment law. He is head of Thompsons Employment Rights Unit.
Rory was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as Specialist Personal Injury Lawyer in 2003 and was re-accredited in 2006. He is a member of the Legal Advisory Committee of Citizens Advice Scotland and has for several years been a member of the Law Society of Scotland Insurance Committee.

George Pollock, Pollock Ross, Stirling

George Pollock is a Solicitor Advocate based in Stirling and was among a select band of practitioners to qualify for entry into the profession in 1994.
Since then he has been instructed regularly in High Courts throughout Scotland. In recognition of his experience and the quality of the cases in which he was instructed, he was among the first of those accredited as Senior Solicitor Advocate in December 2009.
Whilst not engaged on behalf of clients, George's other duties include acting as Treasurer to the Society.
