About Us

The Society of Solicitor Advocates is a voluntary organisation formed to represent the interests of solicitor advocates in Scotland and to promote excellence in advocacy before the Scottish courts.

The Society is consulted on many topics by such bodies as the Scottish Government, the Law Society of Scotland, and the Scottish Legal Aid Board, and is proactive in dealing with issues relating to practicing as a solicitor advocate.

We also offer advocacy training, with the assistance of the renowned National Institute for Trial Advocacy.

We have approximately 170 members, including civil and criminal solicitor advocates from legal firms of all shapes and sizes, and from the public sector. Membership of the Society is open to all solicitors in Scotland with extended rights of audience.
